Elbow @ The Metro, Sydney (1 April 2009)
That was simply spectacular. From the opening notes of Starlings, to the surprise closer of Scattered Black and Whites, I was mesmerised.
Guy Garvey is, without doubt, the best frontman I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. Funny and witty, and always the consumate professional. I saw Elbow just a few days before this show at The V Festival as well, and both shows have been highlights.
This was the first show I’ve seen at The Metro, and it’s a pretty cool place. It has a sloping floor, so you can see from anywhere in the room- pretty cool huh?
The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver was particularly brilliant to hear live in that room- actually the whole set was particularly brilliant. Looking forward to the next time Elbow grace our Australian shores.
